Hall County Master Gardeners through the Hall County Extension Office and in cooperation with several elementary schools in the area will be sponsoring the organization of Junior Master  Gardeners at the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year.

“The Junior Master Gardener Program is an innovative international program that teaches young people to garden while encouraging good nutrition and physical activity. Young people improve their social skills while working on hands-on projects with other youth and an adult leader/teacher and increase theircommunity involvement participation in public service projects.

Each JMG group will have the leadership of a teacher in your child’s school, a parent, and one or more Hall County Master Gardener and will include a maximum of 20 children.

All meetings will be held beyond school hours. The leadership in each school will determine the time of meetings, which will be held twice monthly.

The JMGP has been in place at Wauka Elementary School for several years. We are now expanding this valuable program into the following Hall County schools:

Lula Elementary School

Sardis Elementary School

Martin Elementary School

Lakeview Elementary School

Chestnut Mountain Elementary School

Myers Elementary School

Lakeview Academy
